It’s a metabolic disorder where the body cannot make enough or use insulin properly. Without insulin it cannot drive the glucose into cells where it is needed. As a result the glucose builds up in the blood causing high glucose levels and depleting the cells of energy. Commonly associated with obesity and it tends to develop after the age of 30.


Some genetic component can be present but for the most part it is induced by poor diet and lifestyle.

Signs and symptoms:

High blood glucose, frequent urination, thirst, glucose in the urine, dehydration, weight loss, nausea, vomiting and blurred vision.

Diagnosis: Fasting Plasma Glucose and Oral Glucose Tolerance Testing
